Waiting for the 🎇🎇🎇...Happy new year to all of us! 🌟❤️ ❤️ Just like heaven ❤️ With weeping willows drooping over the canals and charming little bridges, Bruges feels incredibly romantic and poetic, a perfect place for romantic strolls or people-watching in one of its charming café. Every cobbled street you get lost in is adorable and offers wonderful photo opportunities. It only takes a pleasant, comfortable one-hour train ride from Brussels to find yourself in a very special and very famous Belgian town. Bruges (Brugge, in Dutch) is a small town in the northwestern Flanders, a touristic gem of the country and, with a historic city centre that is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Europe. The fascinating Museum of Natural Sciences was the highlight of our kid-friendly (and kid-centric) visit to Brussels. Within its vast permanent collection, visitors can learn about the evolution of life on earth from first forms of primitive life to human beings of today, see speciments of more than 850 animals, learn about humans, minerals, insects and play educational interactive games about the natural world. Manneken Piss, the bronze statuette from the 17th century, is one of Brussel's must-visit sights. It is funny, quirky, light and is said to perfectly embody the city and its spirit. Grand Place in Brussels is one of the world’s most beautiful squares. Surrounded with majestic historic buildings with gilding and intricate decorations, and cafés perfect for people-watching, it urges you to stop and absorb the bustle and excitement that surrounds you. Brussels will forever hold a special place in my memory as it was the first destination we flew to with Oliver. This was last year, when he was 2 and a half, and I had many questions and insecurities prior to our trip. How will he behave in the plane? How will he handle our active itinerary? Will he have trouble sleeping in the hotel? What about his afternoon naps? As it turned out, I worried for nothing. Oliver proved to be a very flexible, curious, persistent and grateful travel companion and our trip really was a wonderful, wonderful experience! Piazza Grande is the heart of Modena.

Splendid Sevilla, pt. 4: Tobacco and History, Immortalized

Sevilla is full of grand buildings and public spaces, as can be expected from a royal city of such great history and heritage. On our last day in the city, we got the chance to see some of them: Continue reading “Splendid Sevilla, pt. 4: Tobacco and History, Immortalized”
